• MiHIN patient identification system needs to be
  forwardly compatible with national efforts under
  NHIN

  multiple HIEs are operating in the State

  development of a technical solution
• Must be able to connect with state government
  systems such as MCIR and MDSS

• The State of Michigan programs and systems will
  comply with any standards imposed on the regions
• Communication methods between all entities must
  comply with nationally recognized standards,
  including the emerging requirement by the NHIN
  to have a single point of contact in each state
• The overall degree of accuracy must be greater
  than 99 or no clinical data will be exchanged.
   False positives are not acceptable
