ENCOUNTER IN THE POCONOS 09
ENCOUNTER 09 will be held August 5-9, 2009 at
the Inn At Pocono Manor located within a 3,500
acre resort in Pocono Manor, PA. Just two hours
driving time from New York City, and 18 miles
west of the Delaware Water Gap. The Inn offers
many amenities two award-winning 18-hole golf
courses, on-site stables for horseback riding,
indoor and outdoor tennis courts and swimming
pools, hiking trails, private trout streams,
Orvis fly fishing school, shotgun training and
sporting clays courses and a world class spa.
Nearby attractions The Crossings (110 factory
outlet stores), Camel Beach Water Park, Mount
Airy Casino and Mt. Pocono Casino Theater.
EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE Remember the deadline
for the early registration fee of 65 is June 1.
The registration fee will be 75 after June 1.
Also be sure to call the Inn at Pocono Manor and
make your room reservations by July 21 to
guarantee room availability. Rates are 159
which includes breakfast, taxes and gratuities.
There is a 2 night minimum. Room rate on
Wednesday is 99 in case you would like to arrive
early to enjoy the Poconos. MT AIRY
CASINO Wednesday evening, for those interested in
going to Mt. Airy Casino, we will have a sign-up
sheet posted. Pocono Manor will bus us to Mt.
Airy or you can drive there yourself. CASINO
THEATER CRUZ Thursday evening at 6 pm, you are
invited to cruz to Mt. Pocono Casino Theater
where you will find two movie theaters, malt
shop, sandwich restaurant, children's arcade
room, gift shop and miniature golf operation all
under one roof. Karen and Don Struckle, owners
and British car enthusiasts, are looking forward
to our visit. BUFFET Friday there will be an
outdoor buffet and valve cover races. Following
the races we will have an awards presentation for
the Thurs. Fri. events and a charity auction.
CHARITY AUCTION The charity auction will be
held on Friday night. If you wish to
participate, please bring a new, or like new, car
part or any Healey related item to be auctioned
in order for this to be another success. So dig
out that Healey item you arent using, it may be
just what someone else is looking for. GOLF AND
SPORTING CLAYS You will have the opportunity to
play golf and participate in the sporting clays.
A sign-up sheet will be posted for those
interested. REMINISCE BAND AND DANCING Saturday
after the banquet, the Reminisce Band, a doo-wop
and Rock Roll group will be our entertainment.
You wont want to miss this great band. WE ARE
ALSO PLANNING THE TRADITIONAL EVENTS Road
Rallye - A rallye through the beautiful Poconos.
Gymkhana - The traditional feature to put your
car to the test. Funkhana - A challenge for
both driver and navigator, but fun. Popular
Car Show - A car show open to all Healeys
including modified, special interest, and diamond
in the rough. In addition, an all
British car show, Lord Of The Manor will be
held, run by the Keystone MG Club. Concours
- This event will run concurrently with the
popular car show. All participants must register
for through the National Concours
Registry for their concours packet in addition to
registering for ENCOUNTER. Photo, Model, and
Handicraft - All items must be Healey related,
must have been made by you, and not have
previously entered. Regalia - Shop here for
Healey related items. Please indicate on your
registration form if you plan on bringing items.
Chinese Auction - Buy your tickets early on
the registration and save money. Hospitality
Room - A comfortable place to gather for a cold
drink, munchies, with good friends. Awards
Banquet - Join us to congratulate the winners.
