Students Role- Fall
  • Finalize and develop a realistic list of 5-8
    schools that vary in both selectivity and cost
  • Taken from Senior Survey
  • Utilize the resources
  • PrepHQ.com
  • College visits and open houses
  • College Fairs and Fall workshops
  • Communicate with CAC

Students Role- Fall
  • Follow deadlines!
  • CAC paperwork is due the 1st of each month
    (National Merit 9/30)
  • Rolling Admission- by 10/1 including U of I
  • Early Action/Early Decision (11/1 or 11/15)
  • Regular Decision (12/31, 1/1, or 1/15)

  • Stay focused and maintain grades.
  • Visit Colleges
  • Advanced Placement Tests
  • Deposit at a College by 5/1

Parents Role
  • Complete Parent Questionnaire
  • Become familiar with the college selection
    process
  • Become familiar with the financial aid process
  • Be aware of deadlines
  • Consult PrepHQ regularly

CAC Role
  • Meet with Students for first appointment by 10/1
  • Help them finalize their college list of 6-8
    schools- diverse and realistic
  • Assist them with teacher recommendations
  • Discuss essay topics
  • Help them with revisions of resumé

  • Complete the Counselor portion of application
  • Write a Letter of Recommendation
  • Summarize students performance
  • Elaborate on any special circumstances
  • Reference the home school
  • Transcript (9th grade included)
  • Profile

CAC role
  • Keep students on track with deadlines for
    colleges, scholarships, and financial aid
  • Prepare them for college interviews
  • Monitor grades
  • Support them through process from now until May 1

  • Keep colleges and universities informed about
    IMSA and its students
  • Participate in counselor visit programs
  • Maintain strong relationships with college
    representatives
  • Membership in state and national organizations
