Physical Description

• A warthog looks like it has warts all over its
  face.
• Baby warthogs weigh 1.5 pounds and grow to be 140
  pounds.
• Warthogs can be gray or brown and they sticks
  their tail in air when they run.

Habitat

• Warthogs live in central and east Africa.
• They mostly live on savannas where it is dry, but
  they need to stay near water to stay cool.
• They avoid rainforest, desert and high mountains.

Food and Diet

• Warthogs eat short grass.
• Warthogs are herbivores.
• Warthogs do not eat meat.

Predators

• Warthogs protect themselves from predators by
  fleeing or sliding backwards into a hole, thus
  being in a position to use their formidable tusks
  in an attack.
• Lions and Leopards are dangerous predators
  because they run fast and have sharp teeth and
  claws.
• Warthogs are hunted for food and their tusks are
  use for bottle openers.

Babies

• Baby warthogs weigh 1.5 pounds.
• For the first few days after they are born they
  stay in the den.
• Baby warthogs stay with their mother for two
  years.

• When a warthog runs its tail sticks up in the
  air.
• It can go without water for several months.
• The warthog must keep a look out for predators
  even when it lowers its head to feed on grass.
