Reflections on Memphis
  • My experience with the first-grade students at
De La Salle at Blessed Sacrament was amazing. It
is difficult to explain the wonderful feeling I
received when my students reacted when they
understood a lesson I was responsible for
teaching.  The experience showed me just how much
I really want to be in education.  I would not
    replace the experience for anything.
  •
                          T.J. Buckley, Christian
    Brothers University
  • My experience at De La Salle at Blessed
Sacrament was a time to experience something that
I had never done before-be a part of a minority.
It also was a time for me to really understand
what it means to be a teacher working with
several different students at once. I learned
that being a teacher takes great patience because
every one of my students learns differently.
  • Christopher Hueg, Lewis University
  •
  • The experience I had at De La Salle at Blessed
Sacrament was beyond belief. I couldn't believe
how diverse the school was and how the students
got along so well with each other. The students
were welcoming and made me feel right at home.
The experience taught me more about what it means
    to be an effective teacher.

Reflections on Memphis
  • My experience at De La Salle at Blessed
Sacrament brought back memories of my own
experience as a student at San Miguel in
ChicagoBack of the Yards. I saw a good deal of
potential in every single student, but more
importantly, I saw hope for the future.  I felt
    very much at home.
  • José Gonzalez, Lewis University
  • Seeing how the students are willing to learn,
particularly once I was able to connect with them
made me feel as if this is what I was put on
earth to do. I love children.
