History of BAuA

• Until 1991 three independent institutes
• Federal Institute for Occupational Safety in
  Dortmund
• Central Institute for Occupational Safety in
  Dresden
• Central Institute for Occupational Health in
  Berlin
• Today merged institute with headquaters in
  Dortmund, including health database in Chemnitz

• advice of ministry (BMAS) as to all questions
  of Occupatinal Safety and Health (OSH) as well as
  adequat job engineering (e.g. ergonomics)
• Initiation and coordination of research and
  development aiming at the improvement of OSH

  working conditions.)
