• To provide timely, accurate, and useful
  statistics of U.S. agriculture.
• Data Collection
• We conduct weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual,
  and special surveys in cooperation with Purdue.
  Data is collected by mail, telephone,
  electronically and through personal interview.
  Every 5-years we also administer the official
  Census of Agriculture.
• Basic Principles
• Data is published and made available to everyone
  under strict Confidentiality, and Security
  regulations.

Overview What Does the data show?

• Overall, farm numbers have fallen State wide
• and in the Southwest Region.
• The number of mid-size farms (50 - 1,000 acres)
  has declined. (IN -18 SWR -19)
• The number of farms with 10 - 50 acres increased
  4 for IN but decreased 4 for the SW Region.
• The number of farms over 1,000 acres has
  increased 11 for IN and increased 3 for the SW
  Region.
• The Southwest Region (SWR) is outperforms the
  State average in some economic categories.
