• Amendment protocol signed and came into force in
  August 2000
• Incorporates
• Revised Rules of Origin
• Regulation on Mutual Assistance and Cooperation
  in Customs matters
• Dispute Settlement Mechanism
• Arrangement on market access and co-orperation in
  sugar
• Negotiations still continuing on outstanding
  issues

• - Imported plastic waste articles
• - A rule to prevent the use of plastic waste

  waste material should be used to produce
  certain plastic products

Rules of Origin

• Chapter 90
• - Optical, photographic, cinematographic
  measuring medical and surgical instruments and
  apparatus
• - Value of imported material should not exceed
  55 of the ex-works price
• - Non-SACU countries are of the view that most
  of the imports are not available in the region,
  hence SADC should allow large importation of
  inputs
