2Role of Medical Scientists
- Medical Scientists are responsible for the
laboratory based tests and procedures used in the
investigation, diagnosis and monitoring the
treatment of disease. - They produce the information/evidence that up to
70 of the clinical decisions made by doctors are
based on.

- Performance of test procedures
- Validation of results
- Interpretation of results
- Liaison with pathologists and clinicians on the
interpretation of results - Quality systems
- Overall management of the laboratory
