    LoBs

3
FY07 Accomplishments cont.
  • Proposed a priority list of remaining E-Gov
Initiatives and LoBs to OMB to focus validation
efforts in areas of greatest impact
  • Provided recommendations to OMB on incorporating
validated E-Gov standards into USG procurement
    actions
  • Draft policy, FAR changes

4
E-Gov Standards Validation Concept
  • Validation means officially approved by a
widely recognized and broadly accepted process.
  • This can be done by one of the following
    processes
  • Using a NIST questionnaire/checklists, NIST
reviews and validates E-Gov standards that have
already been adopted by each E-Gov Initiative and
    LOB or
  • As an alternative, NIST may use a questionnaire
to review the standards adoption process used by
the LOB or Initiative to determine if it is
    comparable to the NIST process.
  • In either case, this validation focuses on the
soundness of the consensus process used to adopt
E-Gov standards -- not the technical content of
    an E-Gov standard.
