and the South East District, Botswana - Goal to build community capacity in both
Toronto and the South East District to address
issues of HIV/AIDS

8What is Palliative Care?
- An approach that improves the quality of life of
patients who face life-threatening illnesses and
their families - Prevents and relieves suffering
- Identifies, assesses and treats pain and other
physical, psychosocial and spiritual problems

- Issue Arising Available services but lack of
skills - Skills Transfer

- Encourage those in the community to use govt
services for HIV/AIDS testing, treatment and

11 What is sport as a tool for development?
- Uses sport to engage youth in community
development projects - To address issues that are having negative
impacts on communities - Goal to use sport to address issues surrounding
HIV/AIDS
12South East District Youth Football League
- Football league owned and operated by the youth
- Over 70 teams registered U12-A17 10 of these
are female teams - League referees trained by the Botswana Football
Association - Football league incorporates Kicking AIDS Out
Concept (KAO) - Develops and empowers females
