On June 22, 1988 the world's first laparoscopic
cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) was
performed. From here, the stage was set for the
growth of minimally invasive surgical
procedures. By 1995, we moved from being a market
share follower to the market share leader in both
the endoscopic and traditional surgical devices
markets. Today we remain number one in our core
endo-mechanical markets and are a major
contributor to the continued growth of
Johnson Johnsons Medical Device Diagnostics
segment.
