29MSSM Appendix D
30Appendix D Legend
- The Summary Statement for the Class of 2004 has
been determined by a numerical system that takes
into consideration the USMLE Step I score,
performance on the comprehensive clinical
assessment in The Morchand Center, clerkship
grades, research publications, school leadership
and community service. - It has been a very difficult process to stratify
our students for the purpose of comparative
performance data. The differences between the
categories can be very small. For comparative
information, it is useful for Program Directors
to know the following - The USMLE Step I mean for this class was 223
which is 7 points above the national mean. (So
even students above the mean nationally are in
the bottom portion of the class for this
parameter.) - Grades for the outstanding category typically
included nearly all Honors, the excellent
students typically had 3 or more honors with
additional high pass grades and the very good
students generally had one honors and two high
passes or 3 or more high passes. - Nearly 75 of the class participated in research
projects and over 90 of the class had serious
commitments to school leadership or community
service.
