Confirmatory Testing
  • 3-5 residents with influenza-like illness (ILI)
    should be tested within 1-2 days of symptom onset
    by rapid diagnostic testing.
  • The outbreak should be considered if one or more
    residents test positive.

Prophylaxis With Antiviral Medications
  • PROPHYLAXIS should be administered to ALL
    residents, regardless of vaccine status.
  • Continued for at least two weeks

Implement Droplet Precautions
  • Surgical masks or procedure masks for five days
    after symptom onset
  • Staff
  • Residents

Isolation/Cohorting
  • Confined to their rooms
  • Cohorted on the affected unit
  • Until treatment is completed
  • Five days after onset of their illness
