  • Available online _at_ www.cms.k12.nc.us
  • 25.00 registration fee will be due with the
    first weeks fees at the schools site, and will
    not be collected prior to August 18th.

  • Before School 18/week for a child also enrolled
    in After School 25/week for Before school only
  • After School 56 a week for the first child 54
    / week, second child 46 week third child

What is Paideia?
  • Paideia is a Greek word that translates to mean
    the proper upbringing of a child.
  • It is a philosophy for education with core
    beliefs focused on equity and rigor.

Paideia integrates 3 modes of teaching
  • Didactic The acquisition of organized knowledge
  • Coaching The development of intellectual skills
  • Seminar Increased understanding of ideas and
    values.

  • - Most traditional of the 3 modes of teaching
  • - Designed to help students master and remember
    essential information
  • - Includes demonstrations, audio-visual
    presentations, or reading from text books.
  • - 10-15 of instructional time

Intellectual Coaching
  • -Produces the skills for learning
  • -The teacher gives supportive or corrective
    feedback while the students practice the skill(s)
  • -Approximately 70 of instructional time.
