Five Point Rule
  • Although students must earn a total of 10 points
    in order to pass a course with a D for the
    year, they must earn at least 5 points within the
    second semester in order to receive a passing
    grade for the year.

  • Summary In the above example, the student did
    earn 11 points but since the student did not earn
    5 points during the second semester, he/she
    received F as the final grade for the class.
    If a teacher feels that the student deserves to
    pass the class, the teacher may override the
    students final grade.

BGHS Guidelines for Adult Education
  • Must be passing 5 of 6 current classes
  • Purpose is to make up failed courses, NOT
    currently failing classes
  • Cannot be used to graduate early
  • Must obtain registration form from counselor
  • Registration and attendance requirements are the
    students responsibility

  • Advanced Placement (AP) Program
  • Receive college credit at the high school
  • Minimum B average in current subject
  • Need teacher recommendation
  • Dual Enrollment (DE)
  • Earn off-campus college and high school credit
    simultaneously (at college or university)
  • Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA Pass CPT
  • Can attend during summer term

Note Since students must earn a GPA of 2.0, the
minimum amount of points they should strive for
in each class is 16, which is equal to a C!

Gator Tips For FRESHMEN
  • Must pass FCAT ( Florida Comprehensive
    Assessment Test 10TH Grade )
  • Missing credits? Low GPA?
  • Adult education guidelines
  • 1) Must be 16 years old and/or in the 10th
    ,11th, or 12th grade
  • 2) No more than one course per
    term
  • 3) Must be passing 5 of the 6
    courses
  • Plan to take PSAT for possible National Merit
    Scholarship (9th, 10th or 11th grade)
  • Do not forget about the two-year foreign language
    requirement for state universities
  • Consider becoming a part of our academies
    T.E.A.C.H., Architecture, Insurance, Nutrition
    and Wellness, International Business Relations
    Academy or Fashion Marketing Academy
  • Attendance Any student who has 10 (or more)
    unexcused absences in
  • an annual course, or more than 5 unexcused
    absences in a semester course, may earn a NG (no
    grade) per marking period and NC (no credit) as
    the final grade.
