• Large multicenter study does not support earlier
  findings that initial SaO2 is a clinically useful
  predictor for admission to the hospital in
  children presenting to the ED with acute asthma
• Initial pulse SaO2 might be useful in the
  assessment of children with acute asthma, but
  does not appear to be sufficiently sensitive to
  identify need for hospitalization
• Although children with extremely low room air
  SaO2 were more likely to be admitted, this
  applied to only a small subset of children
  presenting to the ED with acute asthma
