What do we claim to do now?

• We represent the consulting engineering industry
  globally
• Nobody else has a better claim
• Personal guess 1/3 representation
• Good in civil consultants involved in
  infrastructure for public clients
• Need more MAs
• 100 by 100 and Associate/Affiliate targets
• FIDIC world shows large gap in S America
• Need more representative MAs
• Use Associate status to help MAs grow (3 ways)

Regional Groupings

• EC criterion
• The grouping must have a purpose defined by its
  membership
• It must be financially sustainable
• Regional groupings as a focus for FIDIC
  secretariat activities

What else do we do?

• We advocate on behalf of the industry and work to
  improve its image
• Systematic relations with a number of
  international organizations (MDBs, UN, ISO, ICC,
  etc
• Develop relations with representative
  organizations on the private client side to
  influence, bring to conferences etc.
• Resource industries
• Manufacturers
• Legal
• Real Estate
• Construction
• Use of Affiliate membership to anchor these
  relations

FIDIC systems

• We document and disseminate successful global
  business practices
• FIDIC to be seen as the gold standard for
  business practice
• Training as a regular component of documentation
  and dissemination (courses, workshops,
  conferences)
• Accredited trainers and courses and suppliers
• Care for the FIDIC brand
• Focus on suites of documents on specific issues
• Continued G2P development as a multipurpose tool
  for capacity and staff development
• Increased focus on annual conference as business
  development opportunity

FINANCIAL

• We want to generate enough revenue to pay for the
  things we would like to do for the industry
• Fee makeup shifting to higher percentage of
  non-fee basis (21 by 2013)
• Services sufficiently profitable to meet the
  self-sustaining litmus test
• Training
• Documents
• Business intelligence
• Activities self-sustaining and break-even
• Conferences and workshops
• Possible shift to more focused smaller
  conferences
• Review of fee basis to encourage fairness and
  reporting accuracy
