CNL 2007
  • CNL is now a registered trademark.
  • AACN will continue to use the SM designation
    after the term, Clinical Nurse Leader SM, to
    indicate the organization has applied for a
    trademark and does lay claim to this term as well.

Membership Network/Organization

Marketing Plan
  • Information outcomes dissemination are key,
    includes identifying experts, authors, and key
    stakeholders partners

    capstone projects which highlight the role of the
    CNL and impact on quality patient outcomes
  • Conference compendium, in electronic and hard
    copy formats, of abstract, poster, and speaker
    presentations will be created highlighting
    outcomes in practice and education

Marketing Plan
  • Speakers Bureau - identify experts, slide
    template, handouts
  • Department of Veterans Affairs has created two
    new CNL videos a short 5-minute promotional
    video for CEOs and a longer 15-minute video that
    focuses on the CNL role. Polly Bednash Cathy
    Rick taped brief segments for the longer video.

CNO Network
  • A CNO leadership group, comprised of 16
    representatives from practice and education, has
    accepted an invitation to participate in a Think
    Tank, April 16-17, 2008 in Washington, DC.
  • Purpose is to design and create a CNO Network
    patterned after other CEO networks
  • The CNO Network will be created around the CNL
    initiative but will provide a forum for the
    larger issue of innovation in nursing practice

Evaluation
  • Representatives from three CNL partnerships and
    the DVA are continuing to collect and analyze CNL
    outcome data.
  • Sites are reporting positive outcomes related to
    the implementation of the CNL role.
  • Goal is to work with sites to publish outcomes

CNL Summit
  • AACN and the CNL Steering Committee have been
    invited to co-sponsor and co-plan with the
    Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) a CNL
    Summit.
  • The DVA has secured funding for the Summit and
    the national event planning office has been asked
    to identify a location for the National Summit in
    Fall 2008.

  • The CNL is a unique credential that recognizes
  • graduates of masters and post-masters
  • Clinical Nurse LeaderSM programs and who
  • have demonstrated accepted standards of
  • practice.
