What is Bioplatform

• BioPlatform is a thematic network to support the
  "European Platform for Biodiversity Research
  Strategy" (EPBRS).
• It is a network of scientists and policy makers
  that work in different fields of Biodiversity

• Recommendation of the participants
• Create EU science/policy forum
• Portuguese Presidency meeting (May 2000)
• - Declaration of delegates creation of a

  Biodiversity Research Strategy.

Bioplatfom (EPBRS) - History

• French EPBRS meeting (Dec 2000)
• Unofficial meeting of delegates need for a
  permanent secretariat and core economic support
  to improve Platforms performance
• February 2001- proposal for a thematic Network
  BioPlatform was delivered in Brussels
• Swedish EPBRS meeting (June 2001)
• First informal meeting of Bioplatform (under
  negotiation)

• "Priorities in biodiversity conservation and
  research in the NAS countries and their
  integration in the European Research Area (ERA)"
• The aims of the electronic conference are

  and its conservation in the NAS countries.
• Ø      To describe the current specific pressures
  and the consequences of the accession process on
  biodiversity in NAS countries.
