OEBPS
  • An XML-based content specification for electronic
    publishing.
  • 1.0 released in 1999. Current version 1.2 (Sept
    2003).
  • Widely used throughout the publishing industry.
  • Enables a single electronic representation of a
publication to be rendered by many devices
  • (intermediate processing may be used to transform
OEBPS format into the internal format used by a
    particular device.)
  • Not "yet another standard", but rather
  • A set of coordinated subsets of XML, HTML, CSS,
MIME, Dublin Core, MARC, XPointer, Namespaces,
    and Unicode
  • With some further specific constraints required
    for interoperability.
  • And some new mechanisms (e.g. "Package" and
    "fallbacks") as necessary.
  • Supports any XML vocabulary
  • For more information see the FAQ.
