    negotiated between the donor and the University

    will pay a stipend only for Ph.D. students in
    Operations Research after their first year

  • IOE NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational
    Safety and Health) Tuition support for MS and PhD
    students studying Occupational Safety and Health.

  • Graduate Student Research Assistant
  • Provides income, tuition and benefits (appts ?
    25)
  • Administered through individual faculty members
  • Grants to faculty members are highly competitive
    and require the faculty member to delivery a
    research product
  • The faculty members career can be affected by
    the outcome of the grant
  • It is a big commitment for the faculty member
  • Supporting a GSRA costs about 50,000/yr plus
    overhead

    and craft your personal goal statement to related
    it
  • Prior and current academic performance is
    important
  • Get to know the faculty through classes, directed
    study and lab work
  • Look for a match between research interest,
    faculty and funding
  • Be flexible, but dont keep switching areas
  • Investigate all funding sources
