PATIENTS HISTORY

• Female.
• 20 years old.
• 5 4, 120Lbs.
• Pakistani.
• Physically unfit.
• Presenting Complain
• Severe Headaches often found.

HISTORY OF PRESENTING COMPLAIN

• According to the patient, she developed
  the following symptoms
• Few weeks before, suddenly she developed fever
  along with severe head aches, vomiting, mood
  disturbance, drowsiness, double vision and some
  speech difficulty. This lasted for 2-3 days.
• After 2-3 days, she started to develop seizures
  which progressed over a few days to coma.

ON EXAMINATION!!

• On examination, the positive findings were
• Brain Tumor.
• Meningitis and
• Encephalitis.

PROVISIONAL DIAGNOSIS

• On the basis of the positive findings of our
  examination, we proposed the following diagnostic
  procedures, and the results were as follow
• CBC---------WBS found.
• X-Ray chest--------Normal.
• Urinalysis--------Normal.
• CT Scan------Cerebral Aedema.
• EEG---------Altered.
• CSF---------High protein pressure found.

WHAT CAUSES ENCEPHALITIS?

• On the basis of the results of our proposed
  diagnostic procedures, we suspected Encephalitis
  disease caused due to
• The cause of encephalitis varies depending on the
  season, the area of the country, and the type of
  the exposure.
• Viruses are the leading cause of encephalitis.
• These include Herpes Simplex Viruses and Rabies.
• Also the transmission of infections can cause the
  disease.

TREATMENT FOR ENCEPHALITIS

• Physical Therapy.
• Speech Therapy.
• Mechanical Ventilation.
• Antibiotics for Bacteria.
• Drugs for Viruses e.g. Corticosteroids.
• Some Antivirals that can be used are Acyclovir,
  Ganciclovir, Foscarnet, Ribovarin, and
  Azidothymidine.

HOW CAN YOU PREVENT ENCEPHALITIS?

• Keeping in view the fact that Encephalitis
  Disease is transferred from one person to another
  through the viruses, I would propose the
  following preventions to the patient
• To avoid close contact with the person suffering
  from this disease.
• To wash hands several times a day to prevent
  viral infections.
• Regular medical check-up.
• Proper and balanced diet should be taken.

DISEASE OUTLOOK!

• Actually, Encephalitis is a term used to describe
  inflammation of the brain. This condition causes
  problems with the brain and spinal cord function.
• The inflammation causes the brain to swell, which
  leads to changes in persons neurological
  condition, including mental confusions and
  seizures.
• A person with Encephalitis, requires frequent
  medical evaluations following hospitalization.
