History of the Project
  • Rotary district 6510 took on in 1977.
  • Over 215 children, some with multiple operations,
    have been helped to attain a happier and more
    productive life since that time.

How It Works
  • Dr. Jack Sheridan, orthopedic surgeon from
    Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, donates his time
    to conduct free clinics to identify children who
    can be helped.
  • Rotary pays their transportation to Illinois.
  • Host families provide free room and board and
    transportation to from the hospital.
  • Surgeons at Shriners perform the needed
    treatment.
  • Children stay until appropriate follow-up is done.

What I Want to Accomplish Today
  • In February of 2004, Hal Harsin accompanied the
    team from here to Belize to observe the clinics,
    first-hand.
  • What you are about to see is the result of this
    trip.

The Good Shepard Clinic, Benque
  • This is the entrance to the Good Shepard Clinic
    which was the first clinic attended. About 15 to
    20 children are seen at each clinic visit here.

  • These two dwarfed children have been followed in
    the clinic for years. The girl, who is 12 years
    old, was brought back to have her legs
    straightened.
