Scholarships/Letters of Intent
Q. We brought a letter of intent /or a
scholarship check from an outside source.
A. The student should bring the letter of
intent or check to SFAS. Students name and
student ID should be listed. External
scholarships/letters of intent do count as
anticipated aid once they have been posted to the
students account. The check/letter will count
as a form of financial aid and could affect
current financial aid awards.

Anticipated Aid
Q. What is Anticipated Aid? A. (1)
scholarships the student has been awarded,
/or (2) financial aid the student has
Accepted on myUNT. Anticipated Aid includes
scholarships, grants, student loans, alternative
loans, College Access Loans (CAL), and parent
PLUS loans that have been guaranteed. Anticipate
d Aid does NOT include work-study. If the
total of the Anticipated Aid does not cover the

Paying for Housing
  • Q. How do we pay for Housing?
  • A. Financial aid funds do not automatically pay a
    students housing bill.
  • SFAS considers housing costs when awarding
financial aid, however, all financial aid funds
are disbursed to the students account to pay
current term tuition and fee charges. Any
remaining funds are released to the student and
should be used for educational expenses,
including housing. The student is responsible
    for paying their housing bill.

Starting the Financial Aid Process
Q. If we have not started the financial aid
process yet, what do we need to do? A. During
orientation, make payment arrangements to secure
the students classes. Once you get home,
complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Both student and parent
2007 income tax information will be needed to
