  introduce myself. My name is Mike Simmons, and I
  am the Operations Manager for STAR Seal of Ohio.
  Ive been working in the asphalt industry since
  1999. Over those years Ive done everything from
  equipment maintenance and warehouse management,
  to all of the positions on the paving and
  sealcoating crews, to sales estimating and
  other administrative/managerial roles. Most

asphalt pavement. Composed of high temp. refined
coal tar pitch, selected mineral fillers and

The SUPREME Advantage
STAR-Seal Supreme is a premium grade pavement
sealer for discriminating jobs that demand
outstanding performance and appearance year after
year. It is the ultimate in asphalt pavement
protection having an extraordinary degree of
toughness, flexibility and water repellency.
STAR-Seal Supreme utilizes a proprietary
technology to achieve toughness and flexibility.
Toughness is important as it will reduce wear
from traffic and last longer on the pavement
surface. Flexibility is important so that the
coating can flex with the changes in the asphalt,
reducing cracking. Specialty polymers, rubber,
and chemicals are blended with the hot refined
tar during the manufacturing process. The hot
blending allows the optimum fusion of these
ingredients with the refined tar, thus the full
development of properties.
STAR-Seal Supreme achieves water resistance by
creating a clay chemistry that repels water.
Water is the most damaging element to asphalt
surfaces and coatings. STAR-Seal Supreme resists
re-emulsification caused by water attack on the
clay system so prevalent in competitive coatings.
The improved water repellency enhances the
longevity of the coating and reduces the chance
of tracking materials onto interior floors.

Which Additive is right for me? Additives only
enhance a product, the quality of the sealer will
dictate most of the protection and performance of
the coating. With the STAR-Seal line of sealers
additives are not always needed however they do
provide extra benefits and may be required. A
few rules of thumb when selecting an additive If
you want an inexpensive drying agent with no
viscosity modification, choose Macro-Fast. If
you need to increase the viscosity for high sand
loads (3-5lbs/gal) and want increased
flexibility, choose Macro-Flex. If you need
increased viscosity of medium sand loads
(2-3lbs/gal) and the fastest curing available,
choose Max-DRI. If you have any specific

Which Crack Sealant is right for me? The best
repair for heavily damaged is always cut and
patch however the following rules of thumb apply
to our crack sealants Sta-Flex is best for thin
deep cracks due to its pourable consistency.
Sta-Flex Trowel Grade is best for wider linear
cracks that require multiple applications.
Sure-Flex is designed for large spider-web cracks
and shallow depressions (up to 1/4 deep when
applied in multiple lifts)

following guidelines are recommended for
selecting a hot crack sealant Elasto-Bond HS is
strongly recommended for use with direct fired
equipment. It is the most resistant to the
extreme temperatures experienced with direct
fired equipment. Elasto-Bond 3405 is recommended
for jobs that require a federally specd.

30 Gallon Melter

• The 30 Gallon Melter is capable of providing hot
  material in less than 30 minutes. It comes
  equipped with hand agitator, temperature gauge,
  regulator, hose, burner, lifting handles, hinged
  lid and material valve. The melter is capable of
  melting up to 1,200 lbs of sealant per day. The
  unit is air jacketed, propane fired and designed
  for use with direct fired material only.

Pour Pot With Wheels
Pour Pots and Speed Banders are best used in
combination with a larger melter. Both are used
to apply hot material directly to the cracks.
The Pour Pot with Wheels and the Speed Bander
fill the cracks and smooth out the material,
leaving a neat finish. The Pour Pot with Legs
should be combined with a v squeegee to leave a
neat finished appearance.
10 Gallon Melter/Applicator

• The 10 Gallon Melter allows one man to melt and
  apply up to 600lbs of crack sealant in one day.
  It is mounted on steel wheels and is equipped
  with spring loaded hand controlled release valve,
  steel screed for uniform material strike off,
  burner assembly with hose, regulator and
  temperature gauge, and a platform for propane
