Searching For Answers

• When I was searching for answers,it was a long
  time before I had all of my questions answered.
  Why it crashed? They didnt know why.I went to
  numerous web sites to find the answers. I
  couldnt find information in a book, the
  information was too new. It happened on February
  2,2003Amazingly the hardest question to find was
  its mission.The sites concentrated on the crash
  and loss.Finally, I found the answers to my
  questions.

• Why did it crash, well A chunk of insulating foam
  also known as tiles that protect the ship fell
  from the fuel tank and damaged the left wing.When
  the shuttle hit the earth's atmosphere ,the
  shuttle started to burn up in mid-air. The tiles
  protect the ship from burning up in re-entry.

• What was Columbias mission? Well Columbia was
  studying all kinds of stuff. Like physics,
  biology,fire fighting, medicine, climate and
  more. Mission STS-107 would last 16 days.
  Columbia would orbit as the crew worked on
  experiments. The ship would not go to the
  International Space Station.

• Was it possible to save the crew in any way? The
  answer isyes. NASA could have sent up another
  space shuttle to save the crew. NASA was not sure
  of the damage and if the tiles were damaged they
  were not reparable. But NASA did not try to find
  out the damage in any way. No one knows why they
  did not do anything about it.
