What is Enhancement?
  • Intensive full time
  • 6 months (January July)
  • Subject specific
  • Enables trainees to teach up to A-level
  • Fulfils subject content requirements
  • Runs prior to joining PGCE/GTP

Why Enhancement?
  • Downward spiral
  • Lack of recruitment into shortage subjects
  • Lack of subject teachers
  • 90 of physics being taught in state schools is
    by non-specialist teachers
  • Many pupils choose A-level subjects because of
    teachers influence, enthusiasm
  • Declining uptake Physics, Chemistry Maths

  • Break into the downward spiral
  • OK not a degree qualification
