Title: Gestalt Group, LLC
1Gestalt Group, LLC
2Mission Statement
- To design the most advanced, yet cost-efficient,
virtually co-locative engineering extranet for
the manufacturing industry, and to deploy this
extranet through both integration services and
the outsourcing of engineering services to its
clients.
3What is an Extranet?
- A network which extends corporate information
flow OUTSIDE the company. - GGNet will function as a PRIVATE
telecommunications network connecting multiple
sites within a large manufacturing company, BUT
it also will make available to each client
company the engineering resources of other client
companies.
4When a new client subscribes to GGNet they will
do so in order to acquire co-location and
collaboration ability within their company, OR,
to make their companys expertise available to
other clients of GGNet, OR, to obtain the
services which existing clients of GGNet have to
offer.
5What is Virtual Co-location?
- Such High-quality audio and video that the
collaborating parties FEEL that they are
separated only by two panes of glass (on the
front of their monitors). - On the manufacturing floor, the camera can be
moved on a boom to view all parts of the machine
tool (and multiple cameras can be used
simultaneously).
6Business Concept
- By combining the technology of switched ATM
through its telecommunications partner, along
with industry-standard hardware and software,
Gestalt Group will provide a technical solution
of virtually collocative engineering within the
manufacturing industry.
7Business Concept
- Gestalt Group has partnered with SPRINT for
Domestic ATM services, GLOBAL ONE and GLOBAL
CROSSING for International ATM services, and
General DataComm for ATM switches. - Gestalt Group has initially focused on clients in
the Manufacturing Sector.
8Manufacturing Problems
- Demand for mechanical, industrial, and
manufacturing engineers has outstripped supply. - Engineering projects have grown global in scope
increasing travel costs. - Teamwork is the new mantra within engineering,
but geographic and telecommunication barriers
hinder the optimal utilization of such resources. - Design and pre-production cycles have compressed
in time. - Todays production solution dictates a real-time
interface to the manufacturing floor.
9Gestalts Solutions
- Demand for mechanical, industrial, and
manufacturing engineers has outstripped supply. - Our solution is a network that provides
- On-demand outsource engineering services
- Resource access and allocation for existing
engineering services within the client
corporation - Access to a secure engineering knowledge base
10Gestalts Solutions
- Engineering projects have grown global in scope.
- Teamwork is the new mantra within engineering,
but geographic and telecommunication barriers
hinder the optimal utilization of such resources. - We provide a global ATM-based network for
real-time, on-demand virtual collocation through
voice, video, and data services.
11Gestalts Solutions
- Design and pre-production cycles have compressed
in time. - Enhanced collaboration among dispersed experts
facilitated by the ATM network results in better,
quicker design decisions (no travel necessary).
12Gestalts Solutions
- Todays production solution dictates a real-time
interface to the manufacturing floor. - PC-based controllers connected by the network are
configurable on-the-fly by remote engineers. - The network allows the engineer to be virtually
present at the machine tool. - The machinist receives support via the network in
the form of real-time access to the engineering
knowledge base.

14How Do You Use GGNet?
- As an engineer at an ATM wired multi-media
workstation you press a hotkey which opens a
window in your browser
GGNET Workstation A47353 Your ID code?
ENGINEER CALL? SEARCH? CLOSE
15How Do You Use GGNet?
- As a machinist you can make calls to Engineers or
to Reference Documentation
GGNET Tool R37CT58 Your ID code? MACHINIST
CALL? SEARCH? CLOSE
16If you press CALL you get a form returned to your
browser
- Combo Box of possible contacts (contacts are
pre-authorized and listing shows those now in
conferences) - Combo Box of kinds of calls pt-to-pt data,
pt-to-pt video, both, multi-pt video, or
multi-cast video. - Combo Box for length of call and for priority.
17When the completed from is submitted the caller
waits for the called parties to accept. The
outcomes are 1. The connection is established
and the conference commences 2. All of the
necessary ressources to complete the call are not
available and the system returns an estimate of
when the call could be completed as requested. 3.
The system returns a notice that there is no
answer (the YOU HAVE A ltvideogt CALL FROM
ltengineergt box which popped up on the callees
workstation did not receive an ACCEPT within
the allotted period)
18Todays Choice
- Desktop-based systems (based on H.32x standards)
and IIS-based web services - OR
- Highest available quality of video (up to 35fps)
- On-demand bandwith and service (SVC ATM)
- On-demand resource allocation within the network
(multi-conference, any-to-any) - INTEGRATED voice, video, and data solution
- Secure, private network
19How Do You Use GGNet?
- If you want to find an expert from among GGNets
clients you would access the multiply indexed
HTML directory by selecting SEARCH
