  • Advertising is only one type of propaganda.
  • Advertising manipulates people into buying all
    sorts of things they dont need.
  • Propaganda is PARTLY true and does give the
    potential buyer some useful information.
  • However, there is a lot that the advertiser
    doesnt tell us.
  • Propaganda works because the audience wants it to
    work.

  • A tendency to favor one side or point of view

Bandwagon
  • Persuading people to do something by letting them
    know that others are doing it

Testimonial
  • Using the words of a famous person to persuade you

  • Using the names or pictures of famous people, but
    not direct quotes

Emotional words
  • Words that will make you feel strongly about
    someone or something

  • The product name is repeated at least 4 times

  • Words that cannot be clearly defined and mean

Logical fallacy
  • Taking two pieces of logical information and
    putting it together to make a piece of
    information that is not logical.
  • Example Dogs have ears. Lee has ears. Lee is
    a dog.
  • The first two pieces of information are
    completely logical, but put then together and it
    is not.
