LEARNING THE STEPS

• Realize Im powerless- Admit Im powerless to
  control my tendency to do the wrong thing, and my
  life is unmanageable. Romans 715-17
• Stop trying to be God
• It is in being poor in spirit that we find Gods
  rule in our lives
• Admit the sin involved and be convicted by it.
  Mourn over the sin and its consequences

• Every sin brings consequences Galatians 67,8
• Often result in hurting the ones we love the
  most.
• Must want to change more than want the sin.
• YIELD CONTROL TO GOD
• Become gentle or meek
• Submit to His will in all aspects of life.

Steps

• Know that He cares and can help. I Peter 57
• SUBSTITUTE YOUR CRAVINGS FOR THE WRONG THING WITH
  RIGHT ONES. Hunger and thirst for
  righteousness.
• Close to impossible to simply quit the wrong.
• Need to fill the void, the emptiness.
• Learn to wait on the Lord. Isaiah 4031
• Trust His care. Deuteronomy 3210-11

• HELP SOMEONE ELSE.
• When we see our failings it should build mercy
  and compassion for others.
• We become stronger by helping others with their
  struggles.
• FILL THE HEART WITH GOD.
• Just as drugs, sexual problems or gambling can
  overtake your life and overwhelm it, God offers
  to fill you with Him.

Steps

• Seek His will with your whole heart.
• Pray the model prayer daily or more.
• Where there are wrongs, correct them. Become a
  peacemaker.
• The only limitation on making resolves should be
  when it is in the best interest of the other
  person to leave it alone.
• Remember the principle of leaving the gift at the
  altar to make things right. Matthew 523

• UNDERSTAND IT ISNT EASY.
• Often those who have seemed to be friends will
  become enemies when you arent used anymore.
• Satan will try everything he knows to lure you
  back to the old way.
• Persecutions come on those who do right.
• Learn to see it as something to rejoice about and
  trust God to bless you.

THE RESULT

• Recovery is a process that only reaches its
  destination when we go to heaven.
• WE are all in recovery from sin in our lives.
• Those who are recovering become the influence to
  lead others to the right way. They become salt
  for the earth and light for the world.
