  the transition from HS to community college

  statewide effort
• Create a newsletter (campus statewide)
• Collect statewide and local data

• Very informative

College Success/Counseling Guidance Courses

• More time for workshop session
• Important to do the dance and touch the spirit of
  our students
• Learn to be more intentional and deliberate in
  the choice of subject matter
• A need for greater understanding of African
  centered education African centered learning
  activities for a guidance course

English Curriculum

• Appreciate that we are willing to change the
  classroom environment by providing a safe space
  for discussion or porchtalk
• Recognize that the Umoja English method is
  different and they hope to use such methods in
  their classes
• Value the idea that students experience (what
  they know) are as important as secondary scores
• Acknowledge students voices and their desire to
  explore language early in the semester
• Appreciate a unique approach to analyzing texts
  using the 3Qs method (Queezing, Quonnecting and
  Queening)

African American Focused Curriculum

• More exchange of classroom curriculum materials
• Wonderful teaching style
• Great assignments/quizzes
• Good newspaper analysis
• Advertise to students to get them involved

• Reach students with Hip Hop and current media
• Use student expertise to drive curriculum
  research assignments
• Use content/workshop materials on our campus
• Great interactivity of workshop, great ideas to
  prompt the next question
