Purpose of the IG
  • From the Cadet Regulations
  • Conduct Inspections
  • Conduct special investigations
  • Make sure room standards are communicated to the
    Regiment to ensure proper preparation
  • From the Army IG website
  • 1. Extend the commanders eyes and ears.
  • 2. Extend the commanders voice.
  • Extend the conscience of the commander.
  • A sounding board for sensitive issues
  • A fact finder and honest broker

ROOM STANDARDS
The information in the next slides are the
standards we will be using for the semester as
shown. If a change is made, you will be
notified via the ROs. REGULATIONS STATE THAT
ROOM INSPECTIONS ARE CONDUCTED TO INSTILL A
HIGH SENSE OF PRIDE AND TO PROVIDE A
LEARNING OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL CADETS

Formal Inspections
NO AUTO FAILURES
--The cadet being inspected WILL GREET
INSPECTOR Good morning inspector, C/CPT
Shivers, Alpha Company, Executive Officer
--If no position Squad member --Hallway
will be called to ATTENTION by highest
ranking cadet. --Most senior cadet will call
individual room to attention when being
inspected.
GRADING SYSTEM 0 A 1 B 2 C 3
FAIL (applies to uniforms also)

CLOSETS WILL BE OPEN FOR FORMAL INSPECTIONS Next

  • The main room light must be turned on.
  • Blinds must be at half-mast and open.
  • Closets will be open this semester.
  • Sinks must be clean, dry, and plugged.
  • Trash must not overflow.
  • Doors will be left open at a 45-degree angle.

Sink
  • Sinks should be dry and plugged.
  • Sink tops and faucets will be kept clean/shined
    at all times!
  • Debris and other manners of filth will result in
    a gig for your sink.
  • One soap pump will be allowed to sit on the sink
    top (nothing else).

Standing order Nothing will be stored on the
light above the sink.

Closets
Formal Inspections Closet will be open to check
for cleanliness and general neatness. Not
allowed --Clothes that are not hanged
--Trash

If closets are left open during the day, they
will be subject to inspection.

Window Sill
  • The highlighted areas can be checked for dust.
  • All horizontal surfaces including tops of fans
    and windows
  • Cannot be gigged (due to exposure to elements)
  • Area between window and screen (area under fans)
  • Fan blades

Posters
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED IN ROOMS ANY item sexual in
nature, alcohol related, or discriminating in
nature

Racks
What is an ?-fold?
Single fold faces head of the bed
The standards on rack are found on ANNEX D of
CTM - Open end of pillow will be facing
wall and tucked - Shoe line will be under
the cadets head

  • Standing Orders
  • One pillow will be on the bed stow all others
  • Seniors may be allowed to have a pillow case that
    is a different color that their sheets however
    all must be solid colors
  • Inspectors will only check the inspection side
    of the rack
  • EXCEPTION When the rack is in the middle of the
    room, both sides are inspectable
  • Looks for general tightness

Shoe Line
FRESHMAN LACES MUST BE TUCKED IN (not

UPPERCLASSMEN Not required to have a shoe
line. May use shoe organizers on doors or under
rack.
Shoes do not need to be shined. However, they
need to be clean.

TRASH
Cadets may have trash in appropriate
containersduring formal inspections and the
business day. The trash will not overflow above
the top of the trash receptacle.

Standing Orders
Blinds may be at any position during the day,
provided they are clean. Lights all will be off
when the room is not occupied. Sweaty/dirty
clothes will be hung appropriately on a hanger or
draped neatly over the slats of the end of the
bed frame (no horizontal surface, door knobs,
chairs or doors) only hung until dry. Partial
uniform parts (for a particular Uniform of the
Day) may be displayed neatly on hooks, the bed
post, or over the back of the desk
chair. Partial uniform parts include i. The
Grey Bag shirt and tie/ White Shirt and
windbreaker ii. The BDU Blouse and parka iii.

  • Dust on the lower sill of an open window will not
    constitute a gig, bearing it is not excessive.
    Daily cleaning is still required, but dust that
    accumulates throughout the day will be excused.
  • Any room that the inspector deems unsanitary due
    to excessive odors during either a standby or
    random room inspection will receive a gig under
    General Clutter.

  • Q Does chain of command have to be on AA cards?
  • A No. (CoC can change very quickly)
  • Q Is it still okay to have class year on
    nameplate? (SO, SR)
  • A NO, this information is already available on
    the AA card.
  • Q What else about doorcards?
  • A UNIT A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,K,BD, 1BN, 2BN, 3BN,
    REGI
  • CLASS FR,SO,JR,SR
  • Make sure the semester says FALL 09
  • Q Where can I get a blank AA card?

    rack? And
  • is the recycle bin okay for trash?
  • A Thats a gig.
  • Yes, thats an appropriate container.
  • Q Is it okay if the pillow case is too short
    to be tucked in?
  • A Yes, but make sure the open end faces the
    wall.
  • Q Is not greeting the inspector a gig?
  • A YES. That will be a uniform gig.
  • Q Is not calling the room to attention a gig?
  • A YES. That will be a room gig.

CONCLUSION
Every cadet needs to know room standards. It is
every cadets responsibility to uphold these
standards It will be a collective effort of the
entire Chain of Command to enforce these
