  • Administrative Services Department
  • The IT Administrative Services department manages
    and provides leadership and support of a broad
    range of projects and services.
  • This unit supports the technical services and
    communications of The Graduate Centers academic
    and administrative constituencies that require a
    high-degree of inter-campus, inter-department and
    intra-department coordination.

  • Applications Development Department
  • The goal of the IT Applications Development
    department is to maintain and support the
    administrative functions of The Graduate Center
    by providing a set of integrated information
    systems and easily accessible databases of
    institutional data including student and
    financial information to the user community.

  • Audio-Visual Services Department
  • The IT Audio Visual Department provides audio and
    video-based resources and services for classes
    and events across The Graduate Center
  • Equipment resources include data projectors, DVD
    and VCR players, document cameras, digital
    cameras, TVs, portable PA and music systems, and
    related items

  • Enterprise Systems and Networks Dept.
  • The IT Enterprise Networks Systems department
    is responsible for keeping the telephone and
    computer infrastructures working. 
  • Our job is to have all the equipment that
    supports our computer applications, network
    connectivity, internet access, and telephone
    systems working smoothly and available.  If we do
    our job well you wont know we exist.

  • User Services Department
  • The IT User Services Department provides hardware
    and software support for computers and printers
    throughout The Graduate Center.
  • Technicians provide phone support and desk-side
    assistance to resolve all issues related to
    supporting computing hardware and network
    connectivity.
  • Trained staff help users resolve common issues
    and manage incoming phone calls to the Help Desk.

  • Call or visit the Help Desk for technical support
  • The Help Desk is located in room C196.06 (inside
    the Library)
  • The telephone number is 212-817-7300
  • The e-mail address is helpdesk_at_gc.cuny.edu
  • The Help Desk is open
  • Monday-Friday, 900 am to 900 pm
  • Saturday, 1000 am to 600 pm

User Responsibilities
  • The use of CUNY computer resources, including for
    electronic transactions and communications, like
    the use of other university-provided resources
    and activities, is subject to the requirements of
    legal and ethical behavior, as described in the
    CUNY Acceptable Use of Computer Resources Policy.

Network Account Information
  • A network account enables users to log on to any
    PC at the Graduate Center access is available
    both wired and wireless
  • User names consist of the first initial of your
    first name plus your last name, for example
    jdoe_at_gc.cuny.edu
  • All users receive a GC e-mail account
  • All users receive a U\ drive for personal
    storage space on the network

Proofpoint Anti-Spam Software
  • Analyzes e-mail entering the GC and quarantines
    messages that appear to be harmful to the network
  • Users receive email notification of quarantined
    messages
  • Protects data, PC the network

Microsoft Outlook Web Access
  • Provides users with access to GC e-mail from any
    internet-connected computer
  • Allows users access to e-mail services, calendar
    items, tasks, contacts and other outlook features

Citrix
  • The Citrix service provides students and staff
    with internet-based access to many Graduate
    Center software applications, Library resources
    and network drive data through a web browser.

Blackboard
  • Blackboard is a web-based courseware management
    system through which students may participate in
    interactive online instruction .
  • Instructors can supplement their courses with
    online materials such as documents, presentations
    and audio and video files.
  • Blackboard is part of the CUNY-wide initiative to
    bring services to members of the CUNY community
    through the CUNY Portal.
