4- Ahfad University for women Rural Extension
Field trips - Started in 1998 by organization of field trips to
the different states, - this program funded by the WHO and local funds.
- Methods Used
- Workshop and training for the participating
students (Peer group training) - Questionnaire for TB patients to know more about
the patients perception on TB, i.e. the knowledge
,attitude and practice of patients . - group discussion with the patients ,paramedics,
community and informal leaders - seminars with the patients
- role play conducted for the seminars
- interview with doctors and paramedics
- posters and pamphlets distribution
- spending the night with a family index
- Monitoring and evaluation
- A trip report will be submitted to the Central
Unit ,FMOH and State TB coordinator.

- It is a national NGO involved in various
activities , - it is jointly act with the the National TB
control programme and succeeded to implement the
NTP in no of states , - SCC is the main implementer in all displaced
centers and specially in Khartoum Center. - SCC support the NTP in
- 1/providing the health infrastructure for the NTP
centers - 2/ working personnel salaries and incentives.
- SCC/NTP collaboration have been successful since
1995.

Involvement DOTS committees
- Target of NTP , DOTS Committee per each Treatment
Center - The main tasks of DTS committee are to
- Promote establishments of TB patients clubs in
close collaboration with TB patients associations
and TB friends associations - Promote establishment of Sub-DOTS committees at
the lower levels. - Develop advocacy plans targeted to policy makers
to increase political commitment - Conduct advocacy activities on TB control at
community level and develop consensus on DOTS - Conduct TB campaign
- Promote effective approaches for communication
and social mobilization - Ensure community support to TB patient including
DOT,patients adherence, defaulter tracing,
contact examination, social and financial support - More involvement of existing community groups and
organizations in community TB care and
establishment of new partners for the same
purpose. - Pick up TB volunteers and arrange training in
close collaboration with NTP - To maintain high quality outcomes of TB
volunteers and (treatment supporters) through
regular training and support ,motivation and
instruction through joint coordination of the NTP
