Aims of Technology Courses in Home Economics

• Provide pupils with tasks that are practical and
  creative and provide opportunities to design and
  realise practical responses to perceived needs
  and wants
• Focus on the acquisition of specific knowledge
  and understanding, skills and attitudes.

• Help pupils to appreciate the interrelationship
  between people, their technological activity and
  the environment
• Engage pupils in practical tasks that lead to
  products that serve a need, solve a problem, or,
  in a word, work.

• Ready, Steady Cook- Building basic practical
  skills, hygiene introduction to the key
  elements of the design process.
• Smart Start Design- progress into Design Make
  Activities using textiles.
• Cant Cook, Youll Cook- Development of advanced
  Practical Skills and development of Ku in
  relation to healthy eating.
• Design Make Puppets- Cross-curricular link with
  English.

Course Provision in S2

• The Scottish Diet- looks at the complex issues
  of diet, lifestyle choices Nutrition. Pupils
  complete a design task linked to the units Ku.
• Mega Bites- explores culture, other countries
  from around the world. Research project is
  completed. Pupils complete reports and use
  information skills and brain based activities.
