What he was known for

• Sam Houston was known for leading the Texas army
  in the battle of the Alamo. He was the he first
  president of Texas. He had quite a life in
  politics before he became involved with Texas.

Marriage and children

• Marriage
• When Sam Houston was 36, he married Eliza
  Allen. For mysterious and unknown reasons, they
  divorced three months later.

• Later he married two other women and had 8
  children with them.

Sam Houston biography

• Houston served as an observer to the political
  turmoil in that region until the outbreak of the
  Texan insurgency against Mexico He accepted
  command of the newly raised army, leading it to
  victory at the battle of San Jacinto. Combat
  again made him a hero, and the citizens of the
  new nation twice elected Sam Houston as their
  president.
