MDID - Art History Image Database Slide
Presentation System

• MDID 2 was developed at James Madison University
  to extend digital library collections into the
  classroom and other teaching venues. It is an
  ASP.NET web application using IIS on Windows 2000
  or 2003 server and supports MySQL and Microsoft
  SQL Server 2000 databases.

  Slide Collection
• MDID includes a metadata conversion utility which
  will convert Excel or CSV files to XML.
• Currently there are over 12,000 images in the
  database

DLXS WVU Image Base

• A powerful and versatile library of free, open
  source digital library access tools, the Digital
  Library Extension Service software provides a
  suite of tools for mounting collections of
  digital library content. Developed at the
  University of Michigan, DLXS is Unix based system
  which supports
• Encoded text collections ("Text Class")
• Digital image collections ("Image Class")
• Bibliographic data ("Bib Class")
• EAD2002-encoded finding aids ("Findaid Class")
• In-House Developed Web Form for Creating Metadata
• WVU and WV Regional History Collection Art
  Catalogs currently contain over 450 and 900
  images respectively
• The WV Historical Photographs Collection is
  rapidly approaching 1,000 images, with a long
  range goal of 100,000
