2
Research on facilities available.
  • Questionnaire sent out to 18 Primary/Infant
    Schools within Cluster.
  • Some individual visits to schools to review
    facilities.
  • Nine schools responded.
  • Information collated in full form in document,
but tabulated in brief for presentation.

3
Summary of Research
4
Main Findings.
  • Large schools have access to full range of
    facilities.
  • Large Schools are confident about their ICT
    expertise.
  • Large schools are able to embed ICT across the
Curriculum due to range of resources available.
  • Small schools have more limited resources.
  • Small schools often require further support and
    training.
  • Small schools find it more difficult to embed ICT
across the Curriculum due to limited resources.

5
An Improving Picture.
  • All schools should have Broadband Internet Access
by the end of this year.

    interactive equipment, either whiteboards, slates
or tablets by the end of the year.

Whole Class Teaching?
  • Not all schools have enough terminals.
  • If children are paired are both fully
    participating?
  • Small Group teaching aids individual assessment,
but what do rest of class do?
  • Can be difficult to cover all Curriculum when
    teaching small groups.

11
Support and Training.
  • 8 out of the 9 schools surveyed would like
    additional training.
  • Small schools often have less ICT expertise and
equipment, and need more support and training
that cannot be provided in their school.
  • How should training be provided?

12
Training options.
  • INSET Days
  • Twilights
  • ICT coordinator training other staff
  • Twinning small and large schools
  • Investment in one to one or small group training
    sessions
  • Accessible ongoing help and support.

13
Next Steps.
  • Agree on a way forward for sharing expertise
    within Tunbridge Wells Cluster.
  • School ICT training budget.
  • Ensure that all staff feel confident in using the
    full range of resources available.
