- Talk with you child about school regularly
- Know the names of his or her teachers
- Check their Teachers web page online weekly for
homework assignment, tests and current grades. - VRMS website

10Create a Learning Environment at Home
- Set up a study area for your student
- Help your student avoid distractions
- Set limits on free time
- Watching television
- Playing video/computer games
- Chatting online or surfing the Internet (unless
it is related to class work) - Talking on the phone
11Create a Learning Environment at Home
- Work with your student on a study schedule
- Post the study schedule so everyone can see
- Be in the near vicinity to monitor distractions
- Keep to the schedule, even if your student says
they have no homework, they can always use that
time to read of their free reading time. This
keeps everyone on the same routine.
12Helping Your Child With Schoolwork
- Homework.
- If you think your student needs help, contact the
teacher or your childs counselor. - Make sure your student has a phone number of at
least one study buddy they can call for homework
clarification. - Preparing for tests-encourage your student to
- Start studying for a test early.
- Help by quizzing the student at home.
- Remind your student to read all instructions when
taking the test.

14Dress Code
All under garments need to be covered at all
times (girls straps, boys boxers) No
inappropriate writing/slogans on clothing, no
gang related times Students may not write on
their clothing (sharpie) Hair must be of a
natural color
Skirt/Short length is to the ends of the finger
tips with arms resting at he side Shirts may not
be excessive in length and size- may not extend
beyond their posterior area. No sagging or
showing of excessive flesh. Shoes must be close
toed and have a back

planner. Please take time to go over this with
them.
15Attendance
- Please phone in all absences to the attendance
line (951) 302-5189. - If students miss more than 9 days of school,
grades may be dropped - What is a waiver?
- A waiver form is used when a student has multiple
absences. If your child has been to the doctor
due to illness, please fill out the waiver form
and attach the doctors note/instructions. These
absences may be waived and will NOT count
against the student thus keeping them below the 9
absence limit. - You may also submit a waiver for absences related
to rare and extreme circumstances such as
attending a funeral of a friend or loved one. - Dont wait until the last minuteMrs. Cady will
be glad to hold and file doctors notes so that in
the event your child needs a waiver the notes are
already on hand.
