  • Freshwater is defined to have low salt
    concentration,usally less than 1 percent.here is
a picture of a freshwater region.

2
plants and animals that live in freshwater regions
  • plants and animals in freshwater regions are
adjusted to the low salt content and if the
animals were to survive in a high salt content
they could not survive in the area.certain
animals live in freshwater regions such as
    birds,fish,insects,snakes,beavers
    ,otters,sharks,seahorses and ducks.

3
Freshwater regions
  • there are different freshwater regions such as
ponds and lakes, streams and rivers and
    wetlands.here are some pictures

4
Ponds and lakes
  • These regions range in size from just a few
square meters to thousands of square
    kilometers.scatterd throughout the earth,several
are remnants from the Pleistocene glaciation.many
ponds and lakes are seasonal, lasting just a
    couple of months.

5
Streams and rivers
  • These are bodies of flowing water moving in one
direction.streams and rivers can be found
anywhere they get their starts at
headwaters, which may be springs,sn0wmelt or even
lakes, and then travel all the way to their mouths.

6
Wetlands
  • wetlands are areas of standing water that support
aquatic plants.marshes, swamps and bogs are all
considered wetlands.plant species adapted to the
very moist and humid conditions are called
    hyphohydrates.these include pond
    lilies,cattails,sedges,tamarack and black spruce.

7
temperature
  • summer from 22C 4C and in winter from 4C
0C. In the spring and fall, the top and bottom
layers mix and then the average temperature is
    4C.

8
climate
  • In different freshwater regions the climate is
different in different regions such as northern
