10Advocacy Activities The 2005 Alabama Legislative
session is an important one for AMSTEC and
AMSTI. Rep. Ray Garner has pre-filed a bill
providing legislative authority to AMSTEC to work
in support of Alabamas systemic STEM education
reform activities. In addition, the State Board
of Education has requested 15M in support of
expanding AMSTI. To support these efforts we are
providing information that can help you contact
your local legislators to ask for their support
on these two important issues. The legislative
process can be stressful unless you are
prepared. Reading about the process itself can
help, but the most important point to remember is
that your voice, your contact, your letters,
personal phone calls, and emails DO help! So
let your fingers do the walkin and contact your
legislators now! There are presentations and
more information below. Keep checking the site
for new materials and presentations as we prepare
for the session. Thank you for your support of
education in Alabama!
