Laser Scanning

• Laser Scanning enables fast, productive and
  accurate surveys of systems and structures
• Fleetway is equipped to perform surveys on
  physical plants, ships and other structures
• Fleetway uses a Leica HDS6000 compact ultra-high
  speed laser scanner and associated software

How Laser Scanning Works

• The Laser Scanner rotates through a 360oX310o
  field-of-view and has an effective range of up to
  45 metres
• The scanner send out a laser that records the
  three dimensional coordinate of a point on an
  object in its path
• The system obtains up to 500,000 points/sec
• Typical accuracy is
• 1.6mm at 10 metres
• 7.9mm at 50 metres

Point Clouds

• The laser scan produces a point cloud that can
  be delivered and viewed from the point of view of
  the scanner (TruView)
• Multiple scans from different scanner locations
  may be required for a complete model
• Fleetway can combine the point clouds from
  several scans in different locations to produce a
  detailed composite point cloud
• It is possible to interrogate the point cloud and
  extract dimensions using an appropriate viewer
  that can be supplied with the model

As-Built / Design Comparison

• The point cloud can be combined with an existing
  3D model created in MicroStation, AutoCAD or
  other similar tools
• Differences between the design and the as-built
  configuration are readily apparent

As-Built 3D Models

• Fleetway can create 3D objects directly from the
  point cloud
• Fleetway can export these directly into
  MicroStation or AutoCAD and deliver as-built 3D
  models
