sense of ownership in our communitys safety,
appearance, families, opportunities, and overall
health a city where citizens feel connected
and empowered to drive change - Strong partnerships that leverage existing
strengths across sectors to seek out new
opportunities and collectively overcome
challenges. Partnership that eliminate silos
and deliver value to all parties involved. - Goal Oriented approach- clear metrics of
collective success - Customer focused
- Efficient tools and systems
- Cultivation path for tomorrows community leaders
4Homelessness in San Francisco Today
- 6,248 homeless on any given day 3000 chronically
homeless in San Francisco - More homeless are dying on the streets of San
Francisco each year than NYC and Chicago put
together - Status Quo system is not effective
- studies across the country have demonstrated the
need for long term housing with supportive
services- shelter system doesnt work - until recently, homeless individuals were
compelled to wander from agency to agency to get
support and services they needed - Status Quo approach was wasting money-
- It costs the city roughly 200 million dollars per
year in supportive services related to
homelessness - At the same time, it would cost only 15,000 to
place these individuals in long term housing with
supportive services
5Ending widespread homelessness in San Francisco
is the first, second, and third priority of my
administration Mayor Gavin Newsom
