- Surveillance of health status and dietary habits
of the population - Monitoring program regarding the quality of the
most used foods in peoples nutrition milk and
milk products, meat and meat products, bread and
soft drinks - Nutritional education of professionals and common
people - Support and training for food producers
- New food legislation harmonized with the EU
regulations - Communication with mass media regarding nutrition
of peoples - Elimination of IDD salt iodations
- Elimination of IDA addition in flour of Iron
and folic acid - Surveillance of food borne diseases (the WHO
Surveillance Programme for Control of Food borne
diseases ) - Research and development .
4Surveillance of health status and dietary habits
of the population.
- In the National Program of health for women and
children we have the subprogram of Vulnerable
Population Groups Nutrition infant babies and
children under the age of 12 years , teen-agers ,
pregnant and feeding women and third-aged
population . In this sub program a Guide for
nutrition of baby and pregnant women have been
created. - In order to apply the new WHO standard on growth
monitoring and development of children it was
organized one meeting between professionals in
the counties Public Health Authorities ,
coordinated by Institute of Public Health who is
the national leader of the Monitoring Program . - There is a National Program for Health Promotion
with two subprograms - - discovering obesity and the risk for obesity in
children, - measures of prevention of obesity in children .

6New food legislation.
- Legislation was made in collaboration with
ministries and food industry for the accurate
adaptation of all the regulation to protect and
influence the public health in the nutrition
domains - Regulation 1924/2006 on nutritional and health
claims made on food , - Regulation 1925/2006 regarding addition of
vitamins , minerals and other substances to food,
- Promotion of healthy diet in schools project of
legislation under discussion
7Monitoring program regarding the quality of the
most used foods in peoples nutrition
- The Public Health counties Authorities collect
and analyze more than 2000 samples of different
type of food on the market - milk and milk
products, meat and meat products, bread and soft
drinks.
8Nutritional education of professionals and common
people
- workshop on implementation of the Regulation
1924/2006 on nutritional and health claims made
on food and Regulation 1925/2006 regarding
addition of vitamins , minerals and other
substances to food with more than 70 participants
representing of the Public Health counties
Authorities and food businesses in October 2007 - participation to the workshop of Healthy Food
Foundation in October 2007 - creation of National Nutrition Society (
professionals association ) in 2006 - identifying the needs for training for
professionals in nutrition and collaboration with
EUROFIR
9Elimination of Micronutrient deficiencies IDD and
IDA
- renew the legislation for universal iodization
of salt - seminar for training of the personnel who
analyzes iodinated salt in the laboratories, in
order to have a standardized method . - 2 workshops Project for addition of Iron and
