- Be active in your troop and patrol for at least 6
months as a Life Scout. - Demonstrate Scout spirit by living the Scout Oath
(Promise) and Scout Law. - Earn a total of 21 merit badges including
- Camping Citizenship in the Community
Citizenship in the Nation - Communications Citizenship in the
World Family Life - First Aid Environmental Science
Personal Fitness - Lifesaving OR Emergency
Preparedness Personal Management - Hiking OR Cycling OR
Swimming - 4. While a Life Scout, serve actively for a
period of 6 months in one or more of the
following positions of responsibility

to any religious institution, school, or your

- Build newspaper recycling boxes for school
- Landscape church grounds with plants, mulch etc
- Repair and paint playground equipment
- Plant trees in park to stop vehicles from
damaging grounds - Collect books and toys for children in hospital
- Conduct bike safety program at summer camp for
underprivileged children - Improve hiking trail with signs and benches
- Construct an Arboretum
- Build/repair fence at historic site
- Rehabilitate a zoo exhibit
- Build handicap boat ramp
- Produce gun safety video for schools
- Produced audio tapes of children books in English
for non-English classes - Collect blankets for premature babies in

- You Must Plan, Organize, Obtain Materials and
Schedule the Work - You Must Be the Leader and Have Several Others
Involved to Show Leadership -
- Keep Log of Activities, Names of Volunteers and
Hours Worked - Eagle Projects are not a Troop Activity
- Source of Service Hours for Star and Life Scouts
- Anyone can participate-not just scouts
- No Requirement for a Scout to Participate Other
than You - You are Responsible for Safety
- Notify District if any Significant Change Occurs
- Take Photos Before, During and After the Project
- Optional but Add Significantly to the Final
Report - Show People Working
- Designate Someone to do this- You are too Busy as
the Leader
