The Role of the Mentor
Develop, implement and evaluate reading-related
activities for children, grades 1-6. Build strong
relationships with children, parents and the
community.

Energy Express AmeriCorps Members are required to
be
  • U.S. Citizen
  • 18 or older by first day of service
  • Available for 8 consecutive weeks of service
  • Mentors are required to be college students or
    college-bound graduating high school seniors
    (Must be enrolled full time as an undergraduate
    or graduate, or in a postsecondary program)

  • A living allowance of 1,521
  • A National Service education award of 1000 (in
    the form of a voucher)
  • Lots of training before and during Energy Express
  • Valuable community service experience
