Payroll Method of the Past

• In places of employment such as City Hall, it is
  important to insure that hours of employment are
  properly recorded.

• Consistent application of pay rules and policies
  within City Hall is key to controlling labor
  costs.

• The Department of Economic Development works with
  the City of El Pasos Payroll department in order
  to ensure proper hours of work in the contract
  are met and a accurate paycheck is distributed to
  departmental employees.
• Previously department employees would sign in
  out on Time Sheet which recorded arrivals, lunch
  breaks, departure times of all employees.

• The Time sheet would be filed by the departmental
  secretary for future pay week periods.
  (Bi-weekly)
• During pay periods, Payroll Department would send
  individual predated sheets for all department
  employees.
• The employee would then check past time sheets
  and record their own payroll sheet.

Current Payroll Method

• The Department of Economic Development along with
  other City Government Departments are currently
  using the Kronos' Timekeeper System
• The Timekeeper badge terminals provide editing
  capabilities so supervisors can immediately
  correct punches or make edits right from the
  floor.
• They operate off-line, freeing the host system
  for other applications.

Future Payroll Methods

• Eliminate any tangibles with the use of
  fingerprint or video-photo identification to
  regulate payroll and security.
• Create badge terminals which limit access to
  secured work areas and, when equipped with a
  printer, generate copies of entries for employees
  and reports for supervisors.

• Develop a hand scanner to verify the identity of
  users with hand geometry.
• The unit would convert the hand image into a
  template stored in memory for user comparison.
• No fingerprints or palm prints would need to be
  utilized.
