ATC Library Mission Statement
  •   The mission of the Atlanta Technical College
    Library is to serve the educational and
    information needs of its students, faculty, and
    staff by

Hours of Operation
Monday Thursday. . . 745 a.m. 900
p.m. Closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday NOTE
There is a computer lab available for student use
on Friday from 800 a.m. to 300 pm in the New
Connections to Work Building. Hours subject to
change when school is not in session.

Circulation of Library Materials
  • Present the item(s) with your ATC Photo
  • ID to the Circulation Desk.
  • You can check the book(s) out for 2 weeks
  • and the video(s) for one week.
  • Books can be renewed once for two weeks.
  • Videos cannot be renewed at all.
  • Reference and Reserve library materials are
  • not available for checkout.

Library Resources
  • Our collection includes more than 19,000 items
  • and provides access to about 30,000 EBooks.
  • New materials are being added frequently.
  • Outdated and lost materials are deleted
    frequently.
  • In addition, there are about 190 subject related
  • periodicals. You have access to more than 200
  • electronic databases.
  • Each quarter faculty may place course related
  • materials on reserve for student use in the
  • library. The best source to ask about these
  • materials is your instructor.

  • The library staff, online catalog and other
    electronic sources can
  • be accessed off campus wherever the internet can
    be accessed.

Interlibrary Loans
  • Interlibrary loan is a service to obtain
    materials which
  • are not located in the Atlanta Tech library.
    Materials are
  • borrowed from other libraries by means of a
    computer
  • database.
  • All requests for interlibrary loan must be
    submitted in
  • writing on forms supplied in the library.
  • Loan requests generally take two to three weeks
    to
  • process.
  • Length of checkout period, number of renewals,
    and
  • fines are determined by the lending
    institution.

How to Use The ATC Catalog
  • The ATC catalog is accessible via the library
    website. An option for off campus access is the

    option for on campus access is by using the URL
    http//10.2.23.201.
  • The library catalog is similar to an internet
    search engine. Conduct your search by using the
    search features title, subject, author or
    keyword.

  • Current printed periodicals are located on the
    display shelves.
  • Periodicals are not available for check-out.
  • Periodicals are kept for 1-5 years depending on
    the type of publication.
  • Articles from previous issues are often available
    in GALILEO.
  • Please DO NOT cut articles from the printed
    issues. The copier is available.

  • GALILEO stands for GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning
    Online, an initiative of the Board of Regents of
    the University System of Georgia. A World Wide
    Web-based virtual library, GALILEO provides
    access to multiple information resources,
    including secured access to licensed products.
    Participating institutions may access over 200
    databases indexing thousands of periodicals and
    scholarly journals. Over 20,000 journal titles
    are provided with some eing full-text. Other
    resources include encyclopedias, business
    directories, and government publications.

  • These databases are a good place to start when

  • When you find a good article, use its subject

  • Netlibrary is a database of books available
    online accessible (for on or off campus access)

Computer Acceptable Use
  • Read and observe our Computer Acceptable Use
  • Guidelines.
  • Class assigned projects have priority.
  • Do not change the workstation setup or
  • software.
  • Report hardware problems and viruses quickly.

Accessing Online Courses
  • Students may access online courses
  • using the Internet from computers in
  • the library (Room 1118) or the
  • Academic and Learning Support Lab
  • (Room 2118).

Printing and Internet Part I
  • The ATC Library uses the Pharos system for timing
    of the computer
  • workstations and for payment of all photocopying
    and printing. Library
  • printing and photocopying services are fee-based
    services available
  • through your Library Account. Payment is
    transacted using the barcode on
  • the ATC photo ID card.Charging Printing and
    Photocopying to Library Accounts Students may
    add credit to their library account using the
    ADD/Value machine
  • located by the circulation desk. The ATC photo ID
    card may be credited and
  • re-credited as long as the card is in good
    condition. The ADD/Value machine
  • accepts 1, 5, 10, 20 bills. For information
    on how to use the ADD/Value
  • please refer to the instruction sheets next to
    each ADD/Value machine. There are
  • separate instructions for faculty - please see
    library staff.
  • Note - The Autoloaders DO NOT GIVE CHANGE instead
    your account receives credit.

Internet and Printing Part II
Printing and Photocopying Instructions Step 1
Swipe your ATC Photo ID card through the card
reader beside the copier or type in your Student
ID number for printing. Step 2 When you have
finished copying, printing or transacting
business, remember to press LOG OFF or DONE.
Step 3 If you are printing, select the type of
printer (black and white or color) and retrieve
pages from the printer. Printing CostRegular
(black/white) printing is available for .05 per
page. Special (color) printing is available for
.10 per page. Please care for your photocopy
card as you would your bank credit card, by
keeping it in a safe place. Lost cards should be
reported to and replaced by Student Services as
soon as possible. All of the library's
workstations can process printing jobs. Copier
and Fax Machine The library also provides
self-service copier and FAX services for patrons.
Copies are 10 cents per page. Local and toll free
number FAX services are free to ATC students,
faculty, and staff. Library Patron Computer
Guidelines Students are required to exercise
responsible and ethical use of the library's
computer and internet services. Students needing
computers to complete course assignments are
granted priority use. Students must assume
responsibility for all printed work. Chatting is
not permitted.

  • present a valid Atlanta Technical College Student
    ID card
  • and adhere to the policies and guidelines of the
    Atlanta
  • Metropolitan College Library. Students can visit
    other
  • college libraries but use of their materials is
    limited to
  • library use only unless materials are obtained
    through
  • Interlibrary Loan. Students can also use their
    local public
  • library.
