Keep it clean
  • The work area
  • If the work area is not clean, then clean it
    BEFORE you began. (let us know and we will talk
    to the previous user)?
  • Clean the work area after you do your work
  • ANY unknown chemical must be treated as a hazard
  • General conversation and interaction with
    co-workers, be respectful of everyone
  • Try to keep the use of Cosmetics and strong
    smelling perfume colognes to a minimum

Work, not play
  • The Clean Room and Chase (CRC) are work areas,
    not places to play or horse-a-round.
  • If you are not working, leave the CRC.
  • Use the library, offices or other areas.

Be aware of the environment
  • Even if your are following all the proper rules,
    someone around you can bump into you or distract
    you.
  • Understand any changes from the last time you did
    the work and how that can interact with your
    goals.
  • Use the smallest amount of chemicals, water, N2,
    CDA that you can. Reduce the amount of spent
    chemicals going into the environment.
  • We do not have a Bio-Level rating for the lab, if
    you are working on Bio-materials we will need to
    set safety standards.

  • Be respectful of the persons around you.

  • New emergency lighting in Grad office and photo
    bay

HFthe most dangerous wet chemical we use
  • HF and BOE are the greatest danger to you of all
    the wet chemicals we normally use in the lab.
  • Why?
  • You will not know you have it on you
  • Then you will be in Major pain
  • Solution?
  • Follow the three rules
  • Use the calcium gluconate cream
  • Go to the ER

Evacuation routes
  • Posted around the fab and chase areas
  • Goal
  • To quickly and safely leave the area
  • Know the best path for your work area, be aware
    of potency hazards, and avoid them
  • Make your area safe, Quickly then leave
  • Normal clean room protocol is off during an
    evacuation
  • Do not go back into the lab or chase to work or
    kill time if there is a power black-out
  • LPCVD tool
